IM Bwalya Wins 2025 Easter Open

He won seven games and drew two games against Spencer Masango and Zhemba Jemusse in the last round to cap a fine performance collecting the first prize for his efforts. The Zambian International played solidly in the tournament which just ended today the 21st of April in the City of Masvingo.

Spencer Masango came second with 7.5 points in a pulsating tournament. He was held to a draw by Fortune Gandawa, but Gandawa failed to finish well in this tournament.Masango and Gillian Bwalya both drew their respective encounters. There was a six way tie for third position which included Tapiwa Jele, Zhemba Jemmuse, Lawrence Tavagwisa, Machengedzo Alms,  Mazhambe Tadiwanashe and Kasema Kudzai who drew against Masango in the last round. Tinashe Chinhangablost a must win game against Tapiwa Jele and in the end he finished with 5.5 points after the loss.

In the ladies section Collets Wakuruwarehwa cane first with 7 points out of 9 games. She was tied on the same position with the following: Mathe Nomalungelo,WCM Refiloe Mudodo,  Ndou Tatenda, complete the quadruple players who were tied for the first position but were separated on buccholz. Dube Ropafadzo came fifth with 5.5 points. Meanwhile there was another four way tied for position six. Florence Amos, Shaba Linda, Murairwa Sally , and Hwende Rutendo all finished with five points. Twenty-one players took part in the ladies section while 40 participants took part in the Open section.

The Chief Arbiter for the event was FA Blessing Jemani who was assisted by NAs Magomo and Shumba.
